It's time for part two of my article about how you can determine if your SEO company is really doing the job you are paying for.
As I mentioned in my last post, we have a number of SEO companies in Bali that are working with clients who are not particularly happy with the SEO services they are getting. As a company owner or manager, how can you tell if the company you are hiring is actually doing the job?
What I want to do is give you is a very quick way to determine if you need to replace your SEO company.
Google SEO Guidelines
Remember, this is not just my word! Google has a great new Google SEO Starter Guide that is perfect for business owners and managers to learn the basics about SEO. You will clearly see that we are only showing you what Google says needs to happen for successful SEO.
Simple On Page SEO Analysis
So, let's take a look at a couple of points that you can use to easily verify if your SEO company is working for you. Afterall, as someone who is perhaps not technically SEO savy, it can be hard to determine if they are working for you or not.
Alt Images tags - heard of them? If you haven't then these are the tags that we assign to images to explain what the image is about. These tags actually tell Google what the image is about, and it also displays on the web browser when the image is unable to load.
So how do you view the alt image tags? If you go to your website and right click on the site, you will get an option to "view page source". What comes up is the code for your site, simply put, this is what Google sees.
How do we now analyse the SEO work done with the Alt image tags?
Step 1 - Check you have some first. 99% of web pages have images so start by pressing "Ctrl + F" in the source code to get the search function activated. Now just type in "Alt" and see what turns up.
Step 2 - On some occasions you might not find any results, which means your SEO company has just ignored Google's Guidelines. In other instances you will see something like this:
This means they have just ignored the "alt" tags once again.
Keep in mind that Google tells us that we should have unique "alt" tags for all of our images on the site. By not doing this you are not getting the most from your SEO company.
If you see that the alt tags have some text in there you may be employing a decent SEO company. Of course they all need to be unique so a quick analysis should tell you if they are different, or the same over the entire site.
